Rochester at the movies

Let my experience work for you.So as I said yesterday, Brain and I went to a movie. there really isn’t much else to do in Rochester except for shopping [we did that too]. What I forgot to mention was that we went to the brand new theater in town. The Wehrenberg Cine 14 opened sometime around the Christmas holiday and is the third movie theater location in the city of Rochester [remember - nothing to do in this town]. Brian and I were very interested to see how it differed from the other sites in town. Well first of all it was big, the lobby was huge and filled with video games and air hockey tables and other amusements. However, I was surprised to see that over half of the amusements were OUT OF ORDER! WTF?!? This place has been open maybe a month and half the games aren’t working? Ok, not impressive. They do have quite a selection of concessions, at outrageous prices of course, but you can get a meal of sorts and eat it sitting in replica classic cars.  And stare at a huge flat screen showing  previews, eat expensive food and watch advertisements, how exciting!  But wait, I’m in what looks to be the back end of a classic car, gee how quaint!  I feel like I am at the drive inn!!  Well that makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it?!  Most of the shows are shown with digital projection, which I thought was an improvement over the other two theaters in town.  And though they did show commercials for everything from ABC to the US Army, the commercials ended at showtime and the previews began.  Quite a change from the other theaters in town where the commercials start at showtime.  So for my [two is it?] Rochester readers, overall I would recommend the new theater.

Let my experience work for you! How sweet it is.

Last year at about this time Brain and I bought some Godiva chocolates for his family for the holidays. While we were at it we purchased some for ourselves as well. We bought 15 pieces from the “G” collection. These were considered “special edition” chocolates and only available after November 1st of 2006. I thought it would be a great idea for us to rate what we thought of each piece. As time went by and I still didn’t have a site up I figured that I wouldn’t have a reason to post the information. But today I received a catalog in the mail from Godiva and once again they will be selling this collection starting November 1st. Check it out here after that date. So over the next few days I’ll post our experience with “the ultimate fusion of art and chocolate.” Here is the “fancy” box:

And our first subject “Thai coconut”:

This piece had virtually no scent. It did have a very creamy mouthfeel, but not much flavor until you hit the actual pieces of coconut in the filling. But even then pretty much a disappointment.
