So big news today, one more step on my way down the path of old man-ville, I bought a leaf vacuum with attachments to bag the mulch right into a trash can. With the back problems I’ve had lately I just can’t stand [bend] to bag a whole driveway full of leaves again this year. In the process of getting this neat new toy I ended up going to the southern part of mighty Rochester to the new commercial development. I started off at the old Home Depot in the north end, but after looking for someone to answer my questions for about 10 minutes and not feeling like interrupting the various conversations between the employees that were ignoring me, I skipped out and went to Lowes. After 5 minutes in Lowes I had a friendly staff member helping me pick out the equipment I needed! Then I decided to check out the new Super Target down south. Whoa! You ever feel like you have somehow walked into a world just a few degrees off kilter from normal? This new Target was not set up like any Target I had been in previously, and some of their choices were odd. I don’t think if I was looking for storage containers and saran wrap I would normally think to look between a deodorant isle and the pet food isle. But is is neat to be in a new store, all the employees are so friendly. I even think the gal behind the deli counter was flirting with me a bit while getting me a pound of turkey. I thought about saying, “Thanks but I only really like to get my meat from men,” but I managed to keep that as an inside voice comment. My only real complaint? Who designs the parking lots for these big box stores?!? I was halfway across the lot before I realized there was only one exit and I had already passed it. Parking for something like 250 cars and only one exit.
