Well I have confirmed that I will be interviewing for the new job on Friday. In fact the interview process is scheduled to last from 9 am to 4 pm! I only hope I can be “on” for a total of seven hours! I am a little nervous about the whole interview thingie, but I am more nervous about other aspects of a new position. So I spent today looking at plot lines of X Men comics on the Wikipedia. What a great use of my time! Well I also filed my taxes, so that was productive. We are going to have to sell our house. This is something that will happen, but I become nauseous thinking about it. Yeah we hear about how horrible the housing market is, but I am more worried about what we do with the pets. My folks said they would be able to take care of Mercury if we are between homes, but what about Grim and Elliot? I know things will work out, they will have to, but I am so jittery just thinking about it. Plus all the little things we have to do to get the house ready for sale, like new carpet, fixing a window, packing up some stuff. So does anyone have advice for us, on relocation, or selling a house, or interviewing tips?
Wow! I have come across some really weird stuff tonight. Follow this link and read the last sentence in the paragraph. Is that crazy or what? Now check out some of these products I found on Esty! I love Esty!
Oh and watch out for those exploding nuts!
Well it has been quite an interesting few days. You see last Friday my boss received a call from a head hunter about a management position with a company in Minneapolis. The great thing is, he gave the head hunter my name and recommended me! So yesterday she calls me, gives me the skinny on the position and asks for my resume. Today she calls me to punch up my resume a bit and within 45 minutes of sending it off to the company, calls me back and says they would like to interview me over the phone this afternoon! So the afternoon I speak to the Director of Quality for the company for about twenty minutes, and he expresses interest in having a face to face interview next Friday. Cool no?
So as I said yesterday, Brain and I went to a movie. there really isn’t much else to do in Rochester except for shopping [we did that too]. What I forgot to mention was that we went to the brand new theater in town. The Wehrenberg Cine 14 opened sometime around the Christmas holiday and is the third movie theater location in the city of Rochester [remember - nothing to do in this town]. Brian and I were very interested to see how it differed from the other sites in town. Well first of all it was big, the lobby was huge and filled with video games and air hockey tables and other amusements. However, I was surprised to see that over half of the amusements were OUT OF ORDER! WTF?!? This place has been open maybe a month and half the games aren’t working? Ok, not impressive. They do have quite a selection of concessions, at outrageous prices of course, but you can get a meal of sorts and eat it sitting in replica classic cars. And stare at a huge flat screen showing previews, eat expensive food and watch advertisements, how exciting! But wait, I’m in what looks to be the back end of a classic car, gee how quaint! I feel like I am at the drive inn!! Well that makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it?! Most of the shows are shown with digital projection, which I thought was an improvement over the other two theaters in town. And though they did show commercials for everything from ABC to the US Army, the commercials ended at showtime and the previews began. Quite a change from the other theaters in town where the commercials start at showtime. So for my [two is it?] Rochester readers, overall I would recommend the new theater.
Well it is Brian’s last day before going back to Minneapolis for spring semester, so I took the day off to spend some time together. One of the things we did today was to go see the movie Juno. I highly recommend it if you enjoy a relaxing overall feel good movie, with a nice upper Midwest flavor. Ellen Page does a very good job with her portrayal of a pregnant 16 year old, and the dialog had both Brian and me giggling throughout the show. Michael Cera is also very good as the inadvertent father, but surprisingly not featured as much in the movie as Brain and I would have assumed. The soundtrack really supports the overall feel of the movie, but if you dislike the songs of Kimya Dawson, you are hereby warned, they are prominent.
Well it seems pretty late in the season, but we finally had our company holiday party this last Saturday. I was debating if I should attend or not right up until about an hour before it started, when I received a call from a coworker who needed a ride to the party. I am glad I went. I always forget how much fun most of the people I work with can be, and how much that fun can be increased with the addition of alcohol. I drank a lot. I got to dance to the Violent Femmes. I got to meet some new people. I was also introduced to a new drink, a cherry bomb, which is a shot of cherry schnapps dropped into some Red Bull. The site for the party this year was also pretty swank, check it out HERE.
BTW: What do you think of the new graphic(s)?
the best treats ever! [The guy who thought these up is a genius!]
Some people are just very creative, like the creators of this video. Here is a video featuring people in age order from one year to 100 years old.
